DAB e.sybox

The DAB e.sybox is the most advanced system currently available in the field of water supply, with a wide variety of applications, ranging from indoor pressure boosting to controlling a carwash. If you want a pump that you can leave alone once it has been installed, then the DAB e.sybox is the one you want! The e.sybox is equipped with a speed controller, which ensures that the pump runs only at the RPM required to pump the water, under the right pressure, to a particular location. This model is fully automated and very quiet. which, in addition to saving energy, will also extend the pump's life. This pump can be used in places with a high water requirement: for example at home (multiple taps, showers, baths, dishwashers, toilets, etc.), but also for larger irrigation systems. With this pump you can easily control various groups with the right capacity and pressure. The e.sybox has a water-cooled motor that is fully corrosion-resistant. The motor can pump a maximum of 7,200 litres per hour, making use of its 2-litre pressure valve that has a 5-year warranty without maintenance requirements. Furthermore, the e.sybox is fitted with a number of technical features, including:

Whether you install the DAB e.sybox horizontally or vertically, in a ventilated area or a small space, this pump can handle any situation.  The integrated non-return valve allows for a horizontal and a vertical setup, and the DAB e.sybox is also about 30% more compact compared with traditional installations. Most importantly: the e.sybox has a protective mechanism that prevents icing within the system, because the pump switches on immediately to heat itself up when temperatures drop below the freezing point. In addition to its beautifully designed pump body (also presented with the 2013 Product Design Award), this pressure-boosting system is also fitted with a 70x40 mm high-resolution LCD display,  and the user-friendly interface makes the DAB e.sybox very easy to control. Furthermore, the pump body is equipped with anti-vibration feet, which makes the e.sybox even more quiet and comfortable; it has also been designed for a horizontal and vertical setup.

Water tank

This pump is equipped with a water tank, which may be handy in a number of situations; for example, if the pump needs to supply water occasionally (drip watering). In that case, a pump without a tank will start pulsating (continuously switching on and off). A pump that is fitted with a tank can supply water from its tank so that the pump does not need to switch on immediately. Such pumps are very handy to use with, for instance, irrigation tubes and controlled irrigation, or for filling a toilet reservoir, which is usually also a gradual process. A second advantage of a tank is that it greatly reduces water hammer, the hydraulic shock - or ‘blows’ - that water pipes experience if a water supply point is opened hard and fast. Pumps that provide instant high pressure may increase instances of water hammer, and are therefore equipped with a (built-in) tank.

Quiet

This pump is labelled as being 'quiet'. Of course, like any electric appliance, a pump can be heard, but special attention has been given to its noise level. Thanks to its ultra-low noise level, the pump is highly suitable to be placed indoors, without being disturbing. The perception of noise is subjective, of course, but no other pumps are quieter than these.

Variable water supply

This pump is fitted with a speed controller, which is particularly handy for pressure-boosting pumps to which multiple water points are connected. If one water point is opened, the pump will start operating at a low level, and if several are opened, it will speed up to the required capacity. Pumps lacking such a device will start pumping at full speed, irrespective of the required capacity. These models are limited to the switch on/switch off mode, and are therefore considerably less energy efficient. As a result, speed controlling occurs mainly with a variable water supply and frequent or long-term use, such as to increase water pressure in your home. The DAB Easybox series is particularly useful to increase water pressure, and is therefore always fitted with a speed controller.

Dry-running protection

The name says it all: this pump is protected from running dry. Most pumps cannot, if at all, operate dry for long, which usually ends in the pump immediately burning out and/or seizing. For example, this could happen if the source has run dry and the pump can no longer draw water from it. Garden and booster pumps are particularly sensitive to running dry. Some borehole pumps and somewhat more advanced garden pumps are already equipped with built-in dry-running protection. Others can be easily fitted with a dry-running protection system: for example, with a separate one or with the DAB Control-D. This definitely guarantees that the garden or booster pump will not run dry.

Automatic activation / deactivation

This pump switches on or off automatically if you open or close a water point that is connected to the pump. In many cases, this feature is a considerable advantage: for example, when irrigating a garden with a hand-held sprayer, or supplying a toilet or washing machine with rainwater. It is also useful if you want to increase the water pressure in your home. Unlike standard garden pumps, booster pumps - because of the difference in pressure - 'notice' when one or more water points are opened or closed. This is how the pump knows that it needs to start or stop. Standard booster pumps (which are mounted to a tank) are equipped with a mechanical switch, and the more advanced ones have electronic switches. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages. The mechanical switch is reliable but can either not be set or it is difficult to do so, while the electronic version can be set but is dependent on electricity.
